Floating Grace Necklace
This is the work of a distinguished inheritor of one of China’s ethereal cultural traditions, the ‘gold and silver fretwork’. In 1990, it won the outstanding creative design prize in the ninth Chinese Arts and Crafts “Hundred Flowers Award”. In 1991, it entered the “International Youth Invention Award Exhibition” held in Bulgaria.
Floating Grace is conceptually innovative, stylishly elegant, brightly colored, exquisite in workmanship, and demonstrates the artistic features of Shanghainese jewelry. The creator of Floating Grace takes a lyrical romantic subject and expresses it through a highly form-conscious visual language. Through the use of traditional gold and silver fretwork pressing, mosaic and other techniques, he has created a necklace, bracelets, earrings and other pieces that express the softness of feminine beauty. The whole ensemble uses diamonds for primary decoration and 18K gold for structural material. The metallic silk scarf crafted through the pressing technique looks as soft and fluid as real satin. The mosaic of over one hundred large and small diamonds sparkle with light, and the graceful metallic scarf drapes upon the collar center, yellow against white, looking pure and bright, gentle and relaxed, soft and rhythmic, creating a poetic mood and a ground for limitless fantasy. The work fully demonstrates the creator’s rich artistic imagination and superb technical standard.
